Fitting wheels on a Fiat Punto

A Fiat Punto (1993–1999) uses a 4x98 or 4x100 PCD and a centre bore of 58.1 or 56.6 mm. Any wheel must match the vehicle's PCD exactly: there is no tolerance, unless you use a PCD adapter.

  • PCD: 4x98 or 4x100 required. See all vehicles with 4x98.
  • Centre bore: the wheel must have a centre bore of 58.1 mm or more. If it is larger (as with most aftermarket wheels), add a hub centric ring wheel centre bore → 58.1 mm.
  • Offset: the original is ET35 to ET43. Compare your future wheel with the offset calculator (your vehicle is already selected) to see how many millimetres further in or out it will sit.
  • Fixings: thread M12x1.25, tightened to 86 Nm. The nuts or bolts must have the same seat (conical, spherical or flat) as the wheel.
  • Tyres: original fitment is 165/65R14, 165/70R14, 185/65R15. For another size, check the diameter difference with the equivalence calculator (under 3 % recommended).

Vehicles with the same PCD and centre bore

Same 4x98 PCD and same 58.1 mm centre bore: wheels from these vehicles bolt on and centre on a Fiat Punto without rings. Offset, width, diameter and caliper clearance still need checking.

Will wheels from another vehicle fit your Punto?

Choose the vehicle the wheels come from: we compare the hub, then each original wheel to the millimetre.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PCD of a Fiat Punto?

A Fiat Punto (1993–1999) can have a 4x98 or 4x100 PCD depending on the version: check on an original wheel.

Does a Fiat Punto need a hub centric ring?

The centre bore (hub diameter) of a Fiat Punto is 58.1 or 56.6 mm. A wheel with a larger centre bore is fitted with a hub centric ring that brings it down to the hub diameter. A wheel with a smaller centre bore cannot be fitted.

What offset (ET) for a Fiat Punto?

The recorded original offset is ET35 to ET43 depending on the version and wheel size. A lower ET pushes the wheel outwards, a higher ET pulls it inwards: check wheel well and caliper clearance before making any change.

What tightening torque for the wheels of a Fiat Punto?

The specified tightening torque is 86 Nm for M12x1.25 fixings. Tighten in a criss-cross pattern with a torque wrench and check the tightness again after about fifty kilometres.

Which vehicles have the same PCD as a Fiat Punto?

With the same PCD (4x98) and the same centre bore (58.1 mm), these include: Fiat 500e, Fiat Panda III, Fiat Qubo, Fiat 500 (312). Offset, width and rim diameter still need checking for each vehicle.
