Fitting wheels on a Volkswagen Touareg

A Volkswagen Touareg (2002–2010) uses a 5x130 or 5x112 PCD and a centre bore of 71.5 or 66.6 mm. Any wheel must match the vehicle's PCD exactly: there is no tolerance, unless you use a PCD adapter.

  • PCD: 5x130 or 5x112 required. See all vehicles with 5x130.
  • Centre bore: the wheel must have a centre bore of 71.5 mm or more. If it is larger (as with most aftermarket wheels), add a hub centric ring wheel centre bore → 71.5 mm.
  • Offset: the original is ET28 to ET55. Compare your future wheel with the offset calculator (your vehicle is already selected) to see how many millimetres further in or out it will sit.
  • Fixings: thread M14x1.50, tightened to 180 Nm. The nuts or bolts must have the same seat (conical, spherical or flat) as the wheel.
  • Tyres: original fitment is 235/65R17, 235/65R18. For another size, check the diameter difference with the equivalence calculator (under 3 % recommended).

Frequently asked questions

What is the PCD of a Volkswagen Touareg?

A Volkswagen Touareg (2002–2010) can have a 5x130 or 5x112 PCD depending on the version: check on an original wheel.

Does a Volkswagen Touareg need a hub centric ring?

The centre bore (hub diameter) of a Volkswagen Touareg is 71.5 or 66.6 mm. A wheel with a larger centre bore is fitted with a hub centric ring that brings it down to the hub diameter. A wheel with a smaller centre bore cannot be fitted.

What offset (ET) for a Volkswagen Touareg?

The recorded original offset is ET28 to ET55 depending on the version and wheel size. A lower ET pushes the wheel outwards, a higher ET pulls it inwards: check wheel well and caliper clearance before making any change.

What tightening torque for the wheels of a Volkswagen Touareg?

The specified tightening torque is 180 Nm for M14x1.50 fixings. Tighten in a criss-cross pattern with a torque wrench and check the tightness again after about fifty kilometres.

Which vehicles have the same PCD as a Volkswagen Touareg?

With the same PCD (5x130) and the same centre bore (71.5 mm), these include: Porsche Boxster 718, Porsche Cayman 718, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche 911 991 Turbo S. Offset, width and rim diameter still need checking for each vehicle.
