Fitting wheels on a Ford Mondeo

A Ford Mondeo (1993–2000) uses a 5x108 or 4x108 PCD and a centre bore of 63.4 mm. Any wheel must match the vehicle's PCD exactly: there is no tolerance, unless you use a PCD adapter.

  • PCD: 5x108 or 4x108 required. See all vehicles with 5x108.
  • Centre bore: the wheel must have a centre bore of 63.4 mm or more. If it is larger (as with most aftermarket wheels), add a hub centric ring wheel centre bore → 63.4 mm.
  • Offset: the original is ET47 to ET52.5. Compare your future wheel with the offset calculator (your vehicle is already selected) to see how many millimetres further in or out it will sit.
  • Fixings: thread Ecrous - 12x1.50, tightened to 85 Nm. The nuts or bolts must have the same seat (conical, spherical or flat) as the wheel.
  • Tyres: original fitment is 205/55R16, 215/60R16, 235/55R17. For another size, check the diameter difference with the equivalence calculator (under 3 % recommended).

Vehicles with the same PCD and centre bore

Same 5x108 PCD and same 63.4 mm centre bore: wheels from these vehicles bolt on and centre on a Ford Mondeo without rings. Offset, width, diameter and caliper clearance still need checking.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PCD of a Ford Mondeo?

A Ford Mondeo (1993–2000) can have a 5x108 or 4x108 PCD depending on the version: check on an original wheel.

Does a Ford Mondeo need a hub centric ring?

The centre bore (hub diameter) of a Ford Mondeo is 63.4 mm. A wheel with a larger centre bore is fitted with a hub centric ring that brings it down to the hub diameter. A wheel with a smaller centre bore cannot be fitted.

What offset (ET) for a Ford Mondeo?

The recorded original offset is ET47 to ET52.5 depending on the version and wheel size. A lower ET pushes the wheel outwards, a higher ET pulls it inwards: check wheel well and caliper clearance before making any change.

What tightening torque for the wheels of a Ford Mondeo?

The specified tightening torque is 85 Nm for Ecrous - 12x1.50 fixings. Tighten in a criss-cross pattern with a torque wrench and check the tightness again after about fifty kilometres.

Which vehicles have the same PCD as a Ford Mondeo?

With the same PCD (5x108) and the same centre bore (63.4 mm), these include: Ford Tourneo Courier, Ford Transit Courier, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford Kuga III. Offset, width and rim diameter still need checking for each vehicle.
